How-to guide
How to add an email signature in Apple Mail
On a Mac, add an HTML email signature to Apple Mail by creating a signature in Mail's settings, inserting the rendered HTML, assigning it to the right account, and sending a test message. Apple Mail keeps signatures per account, so check the sender before you save.
Use the Mac steps below. iPhone and iPad have a separate signature setting, covered near the end.
Build the signature before opening Mail
Create the HTML
- 1Paste your website URLEmailSigStudio reads the site's brand, logo, colors, and name to start a signature draft.
- 2Tune the draftReview the AI-tuned layout, choose from 16 layouts, adjust the settings, and use the live preview.
- 3Finalise the signatureFinalising unlocks the full styled HTML export.
- 4Prepare the exportCopy the full styled HTML export and save it as
signature.htmlso you can open the rendered content in a browser.
Note: The workflow can go from website URL to signature in under a minute. Drafts are free and unlimited while you decide what to use.
Find the signature editor in macOS
Apple Mail settings path

| Earlier macOS | Mail > Preferences > Signatures |
Paste and assign it
- 1Open SignaturesOpen Apple Mail, use the path for your macOS version, and select the email account that should use the signature.
- 2Create an entryClick the plus button, give the signature a clear name, and leave the new entry selected.
- 3Paste rendered contentOpen
signature.htmlin Safari, select the rendered content rather than the source, copy it, and paste it into Apple Mail's editor. - 4Choose its defaultsUse Choose Signature to assign it for new messages and, if needed, replies or forwards.
Add a separate mobile version
Apple Mail on iPhone and iPad uses its own signature setting. Keep the mobile version shorter if the full desktop signature is difficult to read on a phone.
Set the iPhone or iPad signature
- 1Open Mail settingsGo to Settings > Apps > Mail > Signature. On older iOS versions, use Settings > Mail > Signature.
- 2Enter the mobile versionType or paste the signature you want Apple Mail to add to messages sent from that device.
Test it before you send
Send a test message to yourself. Check the signature in a new message and in a reply or forward if you assigned it there. Open every link, inspect line breaks and spacing, and view the message on both a desktop and a phone.
EmailSigStudio signatures use table-based HTML and inline CSS with zero required images. They are designed to render consistently in Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail on desktop and mobile, but a test still catches account settings and client-specific changes.
Tip: A logo is optional. If you include one, it can be hotlinked from your own site. Check that the logo source remains available to recipients.
